The corset trunkplasty is performed entirely in the supine position and all skin markings are drawn after prepping and draping.
"I have discovered that the true origin and extent of skin redundancy involving the trunk seems to be better visualized in the supine (as opposed to standing) position (see drawing below)."
A tailor-tacking method is used to help outline the majority of skin resections during the corset trunkplasty. All closures along the vertical midline are performed by pulling skin together, eliminating the need for undermining of the surrounding skin. The completed on-table shape appears to be that provided by a corset (see drawings below).
